coimbatore: Coimbatore collector V.Palanikumar inaugurated and gave a speech on need for financial independence and planning for students at the Education loan camp organized by the Canara bank. The idea of the loan camp was tried out at Tirupur succesfully and the bank wanted to conduct one at Coimbatore followed by another at Pollachi. While the concept and efforts are very much appreciated, we feel that this should be augmented by making avenues for students to be able to get employment opportunities while going to college also. Our system is vastly different from the American's or developed countries' systems where college students often support themselves with on or off-campus jobs. With our economic growth and increased level of opportunities, it would be wonderful to provide students opportunity to support themselves while stuyding. The experience will help them grow to be financially responsible.
