coimbatore: Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Echanari, organized and held the NAAC (The National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Sponsored State Level Seminar on the topic “ IQAC Defining Parameters for Promoting Quality in Higher Education” on 19^th & 20^th December 2008”.
Around 90 papers related to bringing quality in higher education was received from various educationists, faculties and from students. 40 papers were presented in the seminar on 19^th & 20^th December 2008. The valedictory function was held at the seminar hall at 4.00 AM. Dr. R.Mummatchi, Principal of the college gave the welcome address, in his address he stressed the need of such kind of seminars where we can come up with solutions to bring quality in Education and the objective of the seminar was achieved by very valuable papers that was presented by the academicians and faculties in the past two days . He also thanked the NAAC for funding a very useful & Purposeful seminar.
The presidential address was given by Dr. Madhan.A.Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group. In his presidential address he requested the educationists to take immediate steps to change the education system, and there is a wide gap between the education and the industry needs. He stressed that the valuable points discussed in the seminar should be transferred into actions that may help to change the present education system.  

The valedictory address was given by Dr. K.Kulandaivel, Former Chancellor, Avinashilingam University Coimbatore, Advisor Kumaruguru College of technology. In his address he stressed the need for teachers to obtain quality education, he requested the teachers to be the role models for the students and they should impart patriotism among the students. The objective of the education should be empowering the human resources of the country with values and ethics. The quality of the education cannot be measured quantitatively, new initiatives should be taken into account to evaluate the quality of the education in our prevailing education system. Our education should be more student centric rather than syllabus oriented.

Dr. N Rajakumar, Principal of NGM College, Pollachi in his felicitation address congratulated the Rathinam College Management for organizing a very objective and a useful seminar for bringing quality in Higher Education. He requested the teaching community to upgrade their knowledge level every day and improve their teaching methodology by using modern technologies. These days students are becoming smarter and the teachers should be smarter than the students. Not only the teachers, the management, Universities, Government and even parents have a greater role in bringing quality in higher education. 

The certificates were distributed to the paper presenters by Dr. K.Kulandaivel, [Formerly Chancellor, Avinashilingam University Coimbatore], Advisor Kumaruguru College of technology.
The vote of thanks was given Prof. K.Vijayan, Co-ordinator –IQAC, and Vice principal of the college.
